First, a proverbial warm welcome to a bevy of new subscribers who’ve mostly come from the Essay Contest that’s going great guns, who I hope will find the body of work here to be tasty. Although I track current events, they form the backdrop for a developing blueprint, that the essay contest is part of, for what we-the-people could do to create radical change. It’s cosmic food for thought, that perhaps is a little winky way to talk in these serious times, but hey, it’s shades of years ago when I was the Cosmic Cheerleader.
Does this message from Marianne, that she sent to her mailing list this week, make you mad enough? To do what? The freedom-and-equality department gets us more of that all the time, but we still have a ways to go. I’m passing along this report from the frontlines about what we might not have perceived, given it’s so ingrained that the perpetrators might not even know their bias. Things need seeing for dealing with them, and I’m adding my voice to Marianne’s here, calling this perpetration out.
From Marianne:
Throughout my career as an author and lecturer, I have never felt in any way limited by my gender. I never felt opportunities were denied to me because I am a woman.
Let me tell you, that changes when you run for President.
I realize now that I had never fully understood the word misogyny or how much it drains all of us of life force. Misogyny so permeates our cultural attitudes that most people don’t even know when their attitudes are misogynistic — and I’m sorry to say that applies to women as well as men.
From the beginning of my Presidential campaign, I’ve found myself at the effect of things I’d never experienced before. If something happened in my campaign, it was described one way; if it happened in the campaign of one of my male opponents, the narrative was distinctly different. I’m kooky; they’re profound. I was crazy; they were take-charge.
But the latest one takes the cake. In every national poll, I’m ahead of Dean Phillips, yet, according to Andrew Yang, I’ve run a “noble and courageous campaign” but I should just let Dean take it from here!
As Yang put it in his endorsement speech for Phillips:
“To my friend Marianne Williamson, you have run a noble, courageous campaign and have articulated many of the things that Americans should expect and deserve. I ask you to join us in challenging the true enemy. The true enemy is the political establishment that does not care about our families and communities and a media cabal that will suppress or demonize those who want change on behalf of the people of this country. Marianne, Dean is our best chance to change things. I am looking forward to serving in his administration and I would love for you to join us.”
I’m deeply disappointed, too. I’ve heaped accolades on Andrew Yang. Best case would be for him to acknowledge his insensitivity. That would be a move forward. And, there are still many people who don’t know anything about Marianne. If you buy her T-shirt you become an ad in action, and who knows who you might attract besides voters! Just to get clear, you can popularize listening to Marianne in order to educate a not so smart electorate regardless of whether you push her candidacy.
Can you see Marianne as a Rachel Maddow, and being even better from not being at any effect of corporate culture or my name isn’t the Secretary of Fun (oops, bad timing for what I’d love to be)? Yes, that would make it hard for her to get on corporate TV, but somehow, someway, I’d see her doing a go-to broadcast that would be a powerful impetus for waking the world up.
I was going to bring you a wonderful Marianne report before she sent what’s above, but I’ll follow that downer with this upper now.
I was so touched by Marianne’s talk on Martin Luther King Day that I thought I sent it to all of you, but it only went to a few people. I want you all to listen. Seriously, folks, is there anyone in the political world that could deliver this? Imagine how comforting it would be to have such a person in the White House.
I’m encouraging Marianne to pick up MLK’s ball and call for the beloved community. We don’t have any spine to gather round and that could be the most transformational thing she could do!
Substack says shorter is better, but I have more today. My meta-mission involves us tuning into being sacred creatures and not dumb jerks. There’s a certain vibration, if you will, from people who are in a deeply shifted place, that gets to me. I recently brought you a Substacker, Alexander Beiner, who fills that bill. Here’s another one -- not a Substacker but a submitter to the Essay Contest that’s turning into a source for rich connections.
Jeff Dunne heads up International Conscious Research Laboratories. This is the intro to Jeff’s newsletter in which he recommends the essay contest! How intriguing his organization’s offerings are. I’m going to check them out.
Opening Thoughts
The first step in transforming society into a healthy ecosystem is recognizing that we are an ecosystem, a network of connected beings. The health of the system as a whole depends on the health of its elements, for like it or not, we are bound to all of those elements. Some connections are readily apparent while others stay beneath the surface of conscious awareness, yet they all influence the state of our hearts and minds. It is no wonder that the more trauma we introduce into our world, the more its effects permeate our daily lives.
The second step is to demystify that interconnectedness. It must cease to be thought of as paranormal or parapsychological. In truth, what is most beyond comprehension regarding our inherent oneness is how long we have allowed it to remain forgotten when we should be putting it in the forefront of our lives as a constant reminder of what truly matters.
Dear subscribers -- A lot of you make direct replies to each post. Instead, if you comment here we can have the conversations I’d like to generate. First-timers will have to complete your Substack profile to be able to comment on the Substack platform!
In the midst of current chaos, I feel the filaments , cross currents and invisible energies weaving our heart strings. Humans who are confused, dissatisfied and seemingly lost are grasping. As more of us strengthen the filaments, pathways become more visible.
I am encouraged to express the vision I see from behind my eyes.
Dear Suzanne I just recently became aware of you through a friend of yours that posted about your Essay Contest at a community I have helped create and that I’m now a member and participant called Emergent Commons. I am happy to have come across your Substack as you are modelling an important kind of leadership at this moment. I’ll apply to your contest ( I’m still confused how to do that) but despite that I’ll still be connected here as your ‘promotion of conversations’ is also what I deeply value. See you around ( here ☺️)
