I remember one therapist I went to would lead me down the road of what was going on with me when I was at “war“ in my heart and mind, feeling like I needed to “win the war” she would simply ask me, “and then what?” And I would answer with some more fear, getting closer to the “win,” she would as me again, “and then what?” and again, I’d be one step closer to the win, by the third or fourth time she asked me, I realized there was no point to what I was worried about, there was no “win.” What is the true “win” for whoever wins this war? All these people fighting…. And then what?

It's the road to hell that we need to get off. This reminds me of a peak experience with a spiritual teacher who asked me to go back and back and back to where my deepest source was for the behavior I was dealing with -- where does that come from? and where does that come from? over an over -- until I got to where I couldn't go any further, and he tapped me on the shoulder and said, "You are there." Like a Pavlovian dog, now I can go right to where I'm rooted in the source of creation, which is the source of wisdom!

I love that Chaplin speech; it's amazing how well the Hans Zimmer score goes with it. Looking forward to hearing about the those other heroes on vintage Friday.

That was someone making their version of that closing speech in The Great Dictator, which you can read about in the text with it, and I liked it so much that I used that rather than the straight version from the movie. Whichever, it is so astonishing that it was that long ago and it could have been today.
