This is a follow-up to last Friday’s post about A World Without Work, an event I produced before we’d heard of Universal Basic Income in America. I feel a little like a proud mother, where UBI is what I delivered and has of course been something I’ve watched, as a mother would, as it has spread to where now there are test projects working well all over the world.
The follow-up at my house was a Q&A with our speaker. This is a 14-minute video clip from it that starts when I introduce myself. I talk about my acting career, my involvement with crop circles, my producing for TED, and my focus on our worldview. In a kind of family-gathering spirit, I’d love you to see it.
Are you in agony about the world? There is something massively aberrational watching wars along with the entertainment we get on TV. What is this doing to our souls? War is so acceptable that we ignore how it could be nuclear. We need an aha to defuse all nuclear warheads. It’s our survival, but we aren’t operating on that level. And we aren’t helpless. We just act that way. We didn’t have the internet during previous wars. We just need to get organized. I see people of goodwill in a grand coalition to help change the course of history before we are its victims. A subject for Tuesdays.
So, moviegoers, picture you are in my living room…

It's interesting that the first few minutes of the video touches upon another example of Ted censoring one of their talks. This was just in the news again for a recent talk: https://www.wsj.com/articles/shut-up-the-ted-talk-people-explained-politics-race-culture-education-d6a35fe1
Thank you Suzanne for tirelessly working to get your message out.
Some of us had heard of UBI ten years ago, but yes (fortunately), there is a lot more talk about it today. Here is a new and very well done 30 minute video that provides a comprehensive summary of the policy debates to date: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw0pohkYG44.
