Suzanne, your agenda is so admirable. I think it’s possible that once Trump starts his rampage, many will wake up. Now it’s words. There are probably as many good people who are sticking their heads in the sand as there are bad people looking forward to pulling them out and psychologically torturing them.
When the choice to ignore things is over, people will have to choose between the two extremes. No place to hide in the middle - what most people do - could be better for humanity. I do think the evil types are fully engaged while the loving types aren’t.
My hope is that Trump will end up being like when a person gets cancer and finds it the best thing that ever happened to them - a spiritual wake up call they needed.
"It wasn’t going to be good for us no matter what. Now, please take heart that electing Trump could be what saves humanity. With Harris, we wouldn’t have done anything to deal with what has us headed for apocalypse and now we are so freaked out that we just might try. "
I knew we thought alike even though I missed that.
I actually had a friend stop talking to me because I said there was something good about Trump. She got so mad she didn’t let me explain.
What I bring to this table is the role education played to shift society to the ugly side. And if we fixed education tomorrow it couldn’t repair it overnight. It would not do what you’re seeking. But I think understanding how going toxic happened provides hope. (And getting good people on school
Boards would plant the flag of democracy amidst autocracy. I think it’s one proactive thing we can do.)
Plus from the organization I started in 2002 for abused teachers who could get nowhere reporting what administrators and the unions were doing to us, I learned over half of the 2000+ members eventually voted for Trump. These were dedicated teachers. Good people gone hopeless.
If I could have gotten the truth about education to Harris she would have won more than the 1-1/2 percent she lost. These teachers watched me try to expose this since 1995. They realized it needed a strongman, not an activist. And many parents feel the same way. The corruption is so bad and it’s been hopeless so they chose Trump. They really aren’t all bad people choosing him.
I totally agree that Harris without knowing what to do to cause the shift we both long for would have failed. The fact that Democrats support the teachers’ unions and the teachers’ unions have bowed to the corruption makes Democrats losers and I don’t believe they know this. I explain in my book why they don’t know. But it does make them look like a deep state. I think they’re a dumb state.
Randi Weingarten, AFT President is a smart, decent person who folded since the corruption is so bad. I have proof she helped great teachers retire rather than save them. No one wants to do what I do because you lose your career and no one believes you partly because it’s unbelievable and partly because education is too boring for most to read about. I figured someone had to do this and I have a husband who didn’t need me to work so I made up a career to do what no one can do, determined to do it.
I agree that Trump may be the gift of cancer that a society obsessed with celebrity needed in order to return to the values that make democracy work.
I intend to help people understand how we lost those values to help give them hope and the desire to get them back. Trump may cause that shift. He may also be the blessing that makes learning about unglamorous education exciting.
We are rare ones, although we should be popular ones. Look at this sweet essay by Jeffrey Dunne, about how enlightened education saved the world, that was an entry in my essay contest for how to do that: https://suespeaks.org/changing-the-world-a-reflection. You might be able to use it in some way.
Good question. It’s bigger than global warming — the biggest context we are in where we are using up our resources that can’t be replaced. Like old growth forests that we need to cool us being cut down, and minerals that are finite, like running out of iron that’s retrievable in 60 years. What it indicates is we have to cut back on consumption — and for that we need all of humanity working together to redo everything. That’s where I come in, to get humanity to stop being in it for ourselves and we become a cooperative body, all working together. We have to stop being enemies and be a big family.
When they trashed the called-to-teach teachers in our schools - process started decades ago - they
created a vacuum that’s been slowly sucking humanity from us. Whistleblowing teachers have been trying to report this for decades now to no avail. Listen to them at WhiteChalkCrime.com. Our culture is as good as it gets when the force given to us to keep it civil and caring has been thrown away.
You do such outstanding work, Karen. I don't know anything about what's going on in education, but given what you write about can you imagine it under Trump, where everything will be worse? So much of how we operate feels like third world. We've veered so far off course as the great nation that nothing short of a paradigm shift will save us. It's all moving the deck chairs trying to force better things to happen when the solution is humanity in a different frame of mind. Stay tuned for more about that.
Thank you for your kind words and passion to make things better. Your spirit shines throughout your writings.
If you learn what’s going on in education it will become clear to you how things deteriorated. You have a soul that will get it. You’ll know how everything deteriorated if you read my book. I wrote it for people like you.
And rest assured education won’t get that much worse with Trump as long as they don’t privatize it. We can get on school boards and fight that. It’s run as if he was running it already. It will simply be a changing of the crooks. And I’m hopeful I can get people onto school boards now that it’s about the only path for saving democracy available. Believe it or not there’s a silver lining even to Trump.
I write about the weakness of all fear-based activities and the overwhelming power of love-focused lives.
Most of society has bought into the negative modes of living, not realizing that the universe is about 'truth, love and abundance'.
Only a fool agrees to stay fearful and just surviving when they could choose to dump all of that (in spite of so much advertising trying to keep us just surviving in fearfulness) when we have also been given Free Will and could choose to fully live in unconditional love instead.
So, help make things better by choosing to love unconditionally. Ther is so much power I that choice that we could help support life, not fear change. In a universe where everything changes it makes no sense to fear change. It is! Therfore find ways to use change for good purposes!
Here latest book, Doppelgänger, talks about how welcoming Steve Bannon and friends are to those who have fallen from grace in progressive circles, among many other things.
And it makes me wonder how we make our spaces more welcoming, so that we can build a movement that feels genuinely connected. People are so alienated these days, and our spaces aren't always particularly welcoming.
To me, that seems like the groundwork we have to lay in order to build a movement capable of making the changes necessary.
I read the link to the other post you shared, and appreciate the closing words:
"This may be the most significant lesson of the UnitedHealthcare assassination. The cloud isn’t real. Corporate messaging isn’t real. Human beings and the things we create are what’s real, and the source of true change comes from flesh and bone, breath and spirit."
Anyways, Suzanne, best wishes over the holiday season, and for 2025.
I don't. And I'd have to in order to understand what you've quoted.
I thought Beiner's piece was good from several perspectives and I hope people read it. It's very strange to be a big supporter of his and that I offended him suggesting he take an interest in me. Maybe this will turn his corner. Maybe not.
But I'm not into movement building. It takes too long. What I'll say next isn't new to subscribers if they read my posts, and you'd get it following the Brian Swimme playlist, but the next post will give a summary of what I have in mind about getting humanity into a new creation story, to change everyone's mind about what being human is all about so we become the caring species that would best handle what's FUBAR. Stay tuned.
"Strange but true, we’re not talking about how to become the family humanity needs to be in order to rework everything." Will we complete our collective suicide because we were unable to talk about it and build consensus?
I feel like an ingredient in the pot. Like all ingredients, we each come with our own special flavor and as such, when it comes to my own, "a pinch" is most people's preference, even for those who can stomach it at all. Nonetheless, I feel it necessary to enter this conversational mix. In order for humanity to come together, I repeat that it will take something outside of ourselves for this to happen. An external shock that strikes to the core of our collective being, as if we were all to universally understand the story of Adam and Eve for the first time, each holding an apple. Such an eventuality may be closer than we had thought with mysterious drones now appearing each night over New Jersey and elsewhere. Whatever it is, we need to be shocked, and we need to be humbled such that, with awakening, we weep in our collective shame. Only then do I believe we can turn any kind of tide in our course through evolution.
Something terrible is what it always has taken. With humanity having been off-course for a long time and given how good we’ve become at destroying each other, I’ve long talked about there perhaps being other ways. Since Trump came along, each perpetration of his seemed like it might do the trick of getting us frightened enough to be rebellious enough to change everything, but omg, just the opposite.
I am still on it for the possibility of thinking our way to a new reality. Keep your fingers crossed for how good a job I can do.

Yes, I'm on the same page, expressed differently.

I've never heard the term "Overshoot" in this context. Can you say more about this?

Preaching to the choir here. That said, what now? There's another adage. What is, is, and what is now doesn't sing that song.
Hi Suzanne,
Do you read Naomi Klein's material?
Here latest book, Doppelgänger, talks about how welcoming Steve Bannon and friends are to those who have fallen from grace in progressive circles, among many other things.

Maybe. But not on my watch if there's something I can do. The older I get the bolder I get, because I want it on my watch!

I like that we can add links, as in other ingredients... Here's my take: https://www.amazon.com/Maya-Mire-Spiritual-Journey-Dawning/dp/1803415525
