Money and greed are at the heart of what is wrong in the world. From wars, to politics, to people on the streets who are in need of even a dollar, but people just walk by because they don't want to see it. Let's start there. As we know, hurt people hurt things, so smash and grab....let's start at the root so we can stop desperation before it happens.

Right on. Mostly people are trying to move the deck chairs without dealing with what's got us headed for the iceberg. I keep writing about how income inequality is THE major influence that keeps us so dysfunctional. Indeed, people who feel like they are getting a fair shake don't form robber bands.

This is lovely and I have a great opportunity almost every day as a yoga teacher! I drop little nuggets about connection each class.

Thanks for this perfect example where it would be on the lips of everyone who knows "the story" of our interconnection!

You are so right here Suzanne. We need to change the game indeed. Peace, Maurice

When I think of rabble-rousing for a cause I think of this new generation of Climate activists who are alienating the public by destroying beloved art, inadvertently causing people to associate their cause with resentment rather than support. I think there needs to be a different delivery method for these ideas... compassionate persuasiveness maybe?

It's come to be a critique of the environmentalists that they are perpetuating the ills of the system they are trying to change in using its antagonistic techniques. Trying to get to peace by waging war isn't a winning strategy.

Alexander, your gentle argument here is most convincing. I am apt and inclined to agree, peaceably. In saying that, without humanity being humbled - and I believe only Nature can do that for us - I strongly doubt that we are sufficiently ready for kindness and compassion to get us through this crisis.

Historically getting "humbled" by disasters has created change, but this time around, with the world so interconnected that disasters could be catastrophic for us, best we look to what we could do by choice while we still have our creative capacity to change things. It's not over till the fat lady sings but she's getting warmed up so all hands belong on deck to get us doing what we can to steer the world in a better direction.

I am hoping that we can create, together, a new Earth, free from fear. Greed arises from fear, for those who fear not having enough money or power. For those who cannot stay calm being just like everyone else.

This New Earth would not need economics, because everyone would help those they are best suited to help, and accept help when offered. The New Earth would not need politics either, because nobody would want "power over", only "power to" do those things for the good of each other and Gaia.

Although those are underlying perspectives we need, it's too complex a world not to have sophisticated ways to run it. Principles need means to employ them so let's think together about how we can do that.
