It's one thing to stay positive when the world is in such a state but when you personally are in such a place, his warmth and gratitude is truly inspiring.

He's the star of leaving well. Staying in the world, though, you can't do what he's doing.

Acceptance I think is the high state for the rest of us.

Amazing way to be of service to the world, even when your own is closing in on you. True selflessness.

What a role model. Food for thought about yourself if you are getting older.

Thank you, Daniel, for your life of service on behalf of the common good. You have performed with dignity and spoken out at great personal risk for others of us not so strategically positioned. You are an inspiration to all of us genuinely imagining PEACE. BLESS YOU and wishing well during this chapter of your storied life.

Dear Sue ~ What sad news. It's all around us...we who are among those referred to almost with disdain as "Baby Boomers." Hardly a day goes by that I don't hear about someone I know or someone they know who is dying or has passed. In fact, I'm in Santa Fe right now, assisting a long-time friend with the aftermath of her former husband's passing.

Daniel Ellsberg was a true hero, and it was always good to know that he was still alive but now with this news I have to take a deep breath and realize that time is getting shorter for all of us "Boomers." I felt Dan's passion for true freedom, truth and integrity in this latest piece as I hung on every word, realizing that this may be the last I hear from him. I'm inspired more now as I begin to recover from the shock that death comes to all of us, oftentimes with little or no warning, and I reaffirm my personal vow to dedicate the rest of my remaining years to worthy causes...still criminal justice reform, but who can ignore the greater fight against ignorance and apathy regarding climate change, let alone the spectre of nuclear war?

These are highly troubled times, to be certain, and I mourn the imminent loss of one of our true heroes...but I'll take up the gauntlet and fight the good fight wherever and however I'm able to do, until my time runs out. Maybe by that time we might have reached some fleeting glimpse of a truly civilized society. We've got a long ways to go, yet.

Thanks for passing this along. I'd raise a grand goblet to Daniel Ellsberg, if I had one. I'll at least salute him when he passes. What a great example of human decency, courage and principle.
