Celebrating life instead of destroying it is Brian Thomas Swimme 101
New people will create a new world
In building the case for tuning humanity into a new story, I’m sharing video from a Zoom at the beginning of the year. The draw was Brian Swimme, when Cosmogenesis had just come out and people I admire who were familiar with Brian were invited. The video is a clip from my intro with Brian engaging with me. I hoped the auspicious people who were there would carry on together to get the Universe Story understood, but there’s still skinny rations chewing on reality together where the likes of webinars with Q&As are still the standards.
People tuned into being the one humanity that science assures us of would get it that each of us is the entire universe in the form of a human, not acting on the earth but acting from it, as it and caring about it. It’s caring about Earth and not laws to enforce behavior that would make this world work and that’s not even in the prevailing conversation.
An animated video with Brian telling the Universe Story, that’s in the works, will end with THANK YOU! Celebrating life instead of destroying it is Brian Swimme 101. What a different world that would be. All we need to do is catch the idea and it would happen. I’m thinking it’s Coach Brian and I’m its cheerleader in a decades-long affair that’s too platonic to make People Magazine but could be inspirational enough to change the world.
From the intro to the Brian Swimme Thinkalong, 1/28/23:
From the invite to the Thinkalong: “We don’t live in a cosmos, we live in a cosmogenesis, a universe that is becoming, a universe that establishes its order in every era and then transcends that order to establish a new order. Taking in a new cosmology amounts to becoming new person.” - Thomas Berry
With most subscribers carried over from Constant Contact and not being familiar with the Substack world, I get a lot of direct replies to each post. Tom Berry was a friend.. and Brian has been with us in Toronto at the Spirit Matters gatherings. We have lived as an integral community since 2004.. you live cosmogenisis... subjectivity, differentiation and community, at multiple levels of scale! Go raibh maith agat! May good go with you, is how we say thanks in Irish Gaelic, my mother tongue
When Brian said, "You are like the alcohol (at a party)," I just guffawed. Love this post and the video with you and Brian. "Cosmogenesis" shifted my life radically and I appreciate your posts which deepen the experience.
