Baby's skin color and broken high heels in a world with two major wars
Rabble rousing for other things to tend to
I have a confession. I’m not getting what I want out of Substack. I am serious about impacting the world. That means I have to engage it. That is not happening here. I left Constant Contact, which was like writing in a magazine, when people I was reading – Michael Moore, Robert Reich, Thom Hartmann, Steve Schmidt, Heather Cox Richardson, Dennis Kucinich – were on Substack. They were getting hundreds of comments, and I wanted to be even more interactive with people who comment than they are, not as a pundit but as a provocateur. Yep, life is what happens to you while you’re making other plans.
I like writing this. I hope even silent readers get value from reading it. I use pieces from it when I’m dealing with people I want to engage with and with organizations I’m interested in. This change-the-world consciousness crowd is small enough for me to be able to report that no one is dealing with what could affect the world positively sooner than what the world could do to affect us negatively. We’re frogs in the simmering pot. As the student fish said to the philosopher fish, “Water? What water?”
I’ve just got to get attention, so I’m developing a project that will be a money-giveaway. It’s to get people to come up with ideas, and we all know what talks.
Coming soon, with money prizes to get people thinking about what we can do…
THIS IS A CONTEST ABOUT SAVING THE WORLD
Tell how its salvation came to beImagine it’s 25 years from now and things on Earth are going well. Humanity has become cooperative. Start with yourself. What did you do, and then what happened? Put on your thinking cap, imagine the world you’d like to be in, and do a report on how we got there. May this contest deliver ideas for finding ourselves in that reality.
Also, I’m producing a video that’s animated to Brian Swimme’s storytelling, the first of a series to help people understand the Universe Story that I have so much passion for – change the story and you change the world. It’s planned to come soon.
Something’s got to give, and, seeing as it’s not the 24-hour day, after Friday where I’ve got an uplifting archive ready to deliver I’m cutting the Friday mailing. After that, it will just be Tuesdays, 8:00 am pacific, plus perhaps occasional random things.
This week, I’ve been thinking about the trivia that makes news when two massive wars are going on, like the fuss wondering about the royal skin color (weren’t you wondering, too?), and about Taylor Swift, where even breaking her heel onstage was NEWS on this gameboard of absurdities where she’s getting $4.1 billion from the Eras Tour and earning $100M this year with Spotify.
But I want to be talking about what we could do!!! Here are thing I’ve suggested:
We could create a training program for the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys to teach them consciousness, so to speak. Rather than making horrible people’s lives miserable, waking them up and uniting the sides we are on so we come together in one human family could change the world. Look to Norway’s justice system where rehabilitating criminals works better for society than just being punitive.
I was trying to get some conversation about a world project to create Lahaina as the showplace town of all time, a futuristic marvel. It’s the world’s loss so it could be the world’s project with the world’s best designers. Get residents participating – master plans would need their approval. Make temporary housing so everyone can participate in rebuilding – with meeting halls and great food, nurturing community while their model town gets built.
Think about the terrible energy it will be for the foreseeable future with Trump commanding headlines. What about pardoning him from all crimes if he does a mea culpa, confessing to everything bad about him, where he makes how evil he is convincing enough to get all but the most comparably evil people to stop following him? Why would he do that? To stay rich and out of jail. But, also, in that weirdo warp he is in, there’s satisfaction he could get from uniting the country. Maybe some MDMA?
Screaming at the world is a valid pastime but changing it is a necessity, and I’m finishing here with something I take as encouragement for the success of my ambitions, where if this can succeed anything can! I got this from The Weekly Filet: Make sense of what matters, today and for the future: “If you spent some time on the internet in the past couple years, you're easily bored by Rube Goldberg machines. Not this one.” Come on…click…
With most subscribers carried over from Constant Contact and not being familiar with the Substack world, I get a lot of direct replies to each post. Instead, if you comment here we can have the conversations I’ve been trying to generate. First-timers will have to complete your Substack profile to be able to comment on the Substack platform!
I sense your frustration, Suzanne, and eagerly await - in the sense of "waiting without waiting" - what is next!
Suzanne, You are amazing-- you’re right on target. I get it --what you want to do is what is needed to be done and getting people’s attention and getting people to focus in that way has been the work of your life. I always feel guilty because I’m so much at survival and having to take care of my own personal problems and issues right now and can’t focus any more than I do. But I am in alignment and I try to stay engaged with and as attentive to those who are out there trying to do the good work. I know you won’t give up you’ll keep going and that’s what you’re here to do. Keep it up.
